Before placing your order

The ordering process may vary depending on the product selected and the requirements set by the responding agency or Authority Having Jurisdiction. Customers may be able to place an order online, by phone, or by submitting an authorization order form.

Important: For questions about complying with fire inspection requirements, contact your responding fire department, Authority Having Jurisdiction, or fire inspector. The information below provides general use cases only and does not replace jurisdiction-specific requirements.

Terminology note: This article uses the term “fire department” for readability. Depending on your jurisdiction, the requiring or responding agency may be a fire department, law enforcement agency, public safety agency, security department, or another approved authority.

Ordering online

Most customers should begin by placing their order online at knoxbox.com.

During the online ordering process, you will be asked to select the responding agency or jurisdiction associated with your property. The website will then guide you through the ordering steps available for that agency.

Depending on the agency’s requirements, you may be able to complete the order online, submit the order for agency review, or receive instructions to complete an authorization order form.

If agency review is required, the order will remain on hold until the responding agency reviews and approves it. After approval and payment are completed, Knox can continue processing the order.

Note: If your organization or order is tax exempt, tax exemption documentation may be submitted during the ordering process.

Ordering by phone

Some eligible orders may be placed by phone through Knox Customer Service.

To place an order by phone, call:

Phone ordering may not be available for all products or jurisdictions. If written authorization or agency review is required, Customer Service may direct you to place the order online or submit an authorization order form.

Ordering with an authorization order form

Some responding agencies require an authorization order form before Knox can process an order.

Authorization order forms may be obtained through the Knox website or directly from the responding agency. The form must be completed, signed by the responding agency, and returned to Knox.

Completed authorization order forms should be sent to:

Tax exemption documentation may be submitted with the completed order form by email or mail.

Local distributors

In some areas, Knox products may be available through local distributors.

Before placing your order

Before submitting an order, confirm that:

  • The correct responding agency or jurisdiction has been selected.
  • The product is approved for your property and jurisdiction.
  • The correct product, size, configuration, and mounting option have been selected.
  • Shipping and billing information is accurate.
  • Payment information is available.
  • Any required tax exemption documentation is ready to submit.
  • Any required authorization form has been completed and signed by the responding agency.

The customer or purchaser is responsible for selecting the appropriate product for their property and jurisdiction requirements. Returns may be subject to Knox’s return policy, including applicable restocking fees.
